The new multi-storey Auckland City Mission facility is a truly magnificent integration of ground-breaking design and features. Built to provide a wraparound service and accommodation for some of Auckland’s most vulnerable people, this building called 'HomeGround', houses 80 permanent apartments, medical care and a state of the art 25 bed detox unit.
Eleven years in the making, HomeGround stands nine storeys high. This beautifully designed building is the tallest in New Zealand to use Cross Laminated Timber for its core structural strength, and complements its sustainability by using a renewable resource.
HomeGround has a communal kitchen and dining area, a health centre and pharmacy, an internal laneway, integrated planting and public spaces for activities including art, carving and drama, as well as conference facilities and social enterprise opportunities.
