Te Kura Whare receives international recognition for the Living Building Challenge
SPL Limited would like to express our congratulations to Tuhoe Te Uru Taumatua!
Ngai Tuhoe’s tribal headquarters building has recently received a global stamp of approval: certification that the building had achieved the highest global ‘no impact’ standard. It became one of 14 fully certified buildings in the world to achieve this amazing title.
‘Te Kura Whare’ is the first building in New Zealand to leave no footprint, but rather, replenishes the environment and its community in the eastern Bay of Plenty.
Ngai Tuhoe have created a building that uses self-sufficient processes, from its heating, ventilation and electricity requirements, to its water filtration and wastage processes.
The Supreme Airforce high speed, low energy hand dryer was the hand dryer of choice for Te Kura Whare. It dries hands fast using low power consumption, making it extremely energy efficient compared to other hand dryers.
We’re very proud to have our hand dryers in such an iconic building that is now being showcased on a global scale.
